The mission of the program is to alleviate hunger among at-risk children in public schools. This program provides a take-home bag of shelf stable foods to students on a weekly basis. As a result, BackPack for Kids empowers school personnel to take direct action to benefit hungry children and to increase awareness among parents and guardians of resources available to low-income families in our community through educational literature included in the BackPack.
