Woodlawn Students Visit Poverty Point
Posted on Thursday, October 09 @ 13:59:46 CDT by aline

OPSB News Woodlawn Elementary's 5th grade recently visited Poverty Point. The students were taught many different things about the Mound Builders of Louisiana. The students threw spears using an ancient Native American tool, atlatl, which enables the hunter to throw with more power. We climbed the "Great Bird Mound", viewed and touched artifacts that dated 2500 years ago. All in all, the Woodlawn 5th graders, teachers, and parents enjoyed this educational field trip to Poverty Point.
