OPSB physical therapists create inclusive playgrounds

October is National Physical Therapy month.

Our two physical therapists, Alison Sanford and Abby Russell, under the leadership of our Special Education Director, Dr. Gail Autrey, worked to improve the accessibility of our elementary school playgrounds last school year.

Going into this school year, all 22 elementary schools have inclusive playgrounds with five new pieces of inclusive playground equipment targeting motor and sensory needs for all of our students. Each school received a climber, a high back spinning seat, a spinning seat, a xylophone and a drum set. 

We are so grateful for progress in our schools and are proud of our team that seeks to bring students of all abilities together to play. Join us as we say THANK YOU to our physical therapists and help us celebrate them during National Physical Therapy Month!
