Ouachita Parish School Board to celebrate National Public Schools Week

The Ouachita Parish School Board is excited to join in the celebration of National Public Schools Week, beginning across the country on February 26. Ouachita Parish is proud to be among the many public school districts in America that provides rare and special opportunities for every student.

National Public Schools Week celebrates every person that makes public schools unique, including more than 51 million students, 3.2 million teachers and thousands of specialists, administrators and support staff working daily in public schools across the country.

“The Ouachita Parish School System offers an educational experience unmatched in the parish with a diversity, facilities, and opportunities,” said Ouachita Parish Superintendent Todd Guice. We are proud of our district and work daily to make it even better.”

In the Ouachita Parish School System, nearly 18,000 students are currently enrolled in public schools with more than 2,700 employees making the district the largest employer in Northeast Louisiana. These students have access to a wide range of academic opportunities, such as robust dual enrollment, advanced placement courses and a strong gifted and talented program. Our special education program also offers resources and support for all students to be able to achieve academic success.

National Public Schools Week will be February 26-March 1, but Ouachita Parish will be celebrating the power of public schools throughout the month of February.
