West Monroe AFJROTC cadets earn top rating in recent unit evaluation

The Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp instructors and cadets of LA-061 Cadet Squadron, made up of students from West Monroe High School, earned an overall unit assessment score of "Exceeds Standards" during its evaluation earlier this month. It is the highest rating attainable.

Lieutenant Colonel Mark S. Hart and Technical Sargeant Wayne Campbell created a dynamic and supportive learning environment coupled with an excellent community outreach. The instructors provided outstanding leadership in administering the cadet-centered citizenship program. The West Monroe High School cadets performed exceptionally well and took great pride in leading and accomplishing their unit goals.

This school year the West Monroe Corp has amassed more than 2,000 community service hours, provided leadership training in more than 13 different co-curricular activities, won numerous competitions, and provided multiple STEM opportunities, including three cadets attaining their Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (drone) Pilot Certification.

Cadets Yuri Cobb and Mia Jenkins were awarded the Top Cadets Award for their outstanding leadership and community service contributions. Thank you to the West Monroe High School Air Force Junior ROTC citizenship program for making a positive impact on the cadets, the school, and the surrounding community.
