Riverbend Students in Business

Students at Riverbend Elementary are serving up coffee and donuts! An in-school business, The Gator Grind, was made possible by a Junior League Grant awarded to special needs teacher Katelin Cox. Students sell coffee and donuts to faculty and staff members on Fridays. The project gives students hands-on experience with delivering orders, handling money, and building social skills. Students are working toward a goal of raising enough money for a field trip to dinner and a movie. During the outing, students will also utilize their newly learned skills to pay for their meal, movie tickets, and snacks with money they’ve earned through the project. Ultimately, the students will acquire valuable career skills as well as gaining social and daily living skills.
